Stop the pigeon

Do I need to introduce Roz?  I'm guessing not, as you've doubtless already seen her, maybe on Facehunter, Style Scout, Stockholm Street Style...I could go on.  BUT, did any of them employ a pigeon to fly in at just the right moment and make the shot even better?   I think not!   

It's a serious business, this fashion thing, of course, it creates jobs, it inspires young people (and not so young people) and it helps us express ourselves...but sometimes it's just a bit too serious, no?  Which is why when Roz, who'd spent three whole days at the mercy of the many streetstyle bloggers, started larking about when I tried to shoot her, I loved it!  I'd been all set up for the posed shot and then she took her position and started jumping about.  This is the first shot I took,  and I cursed that pigeon at the time for ruining an otherwise perfect, spontaneous photo.  I got the 'perfect' shot at the end, but I don't love it as much as this one. It's just a (literally) passing moment, captured through luck and maybe something to remind us all that fashion (and fashion week) is fun...and long may it remain so.

    I cannot stress enough how much I adore this photo! The symmetry, the movement, the added bird bonus - it all works together so well. Really well written too - makes a good point.
    I am currently putting the finishing touches to my post (I mentioned Lucy too - great minds really do think alike!), so it should be up shortly. I'll let you know.
    Oh and apologies for not replying to your texts - my phone has really dodgy signal at the moment.

    wow she is quite ace isn't she, i've seen her about but didn't know everyone knew her. it's best not to be serious or take yourself seriously, it doesn't work, where is the fun in being too cool for school? i really can't play it cool at all and therefore gave up when i was a teenager. glad the pigeon got involved, i quite like them and their funny neck walks

    OH JENNIFER!!! This is the BEST PHOTO!!

    It's funny - that day - I never did get a shot of Roz in this outfit (some impromptu, but not a proper pose-in-the-door shot). Now I know why: the Universe only allowed one perfect shot of it, and this is it.

    I have a thought... I haven't done this in a while but what if I did a 'guest post' i.e. just posted this shot with a link to your blog? It's so so perfect, it's like a famous iconic Avedon shot.

    This is unbelievably perfect Jennifer! So incredible! Love how quirky and upbeat Roz's outfit is... paired with her jumping and her expression... paired with the pigeon!! Hahahah. I can just see you there being frustrated that it got in the way... I love it when you look at an image on your full screen and realize it was actually wonderfully imperfect.
