In good Company

So, it's no longer a secret that I'm a blogger!  All thanks to Company magazine, and their kind invitation (via Lexxi) to take part in a photoshoot, wearing the spring trends, along with many of my favourite bloggers. It was a hard offer to refuse, not just because it's nice for my Mum to buy a magazine with her daughter in, but because of Company's consistent support for bloggers and their ever-growing place in the fashion industry.  It was a privilege to be invited to partake, with my blog being the tiniest of cogs in the biggest of wheels. And  it was also an awful lot of fun (fashion cupboard! hello!).  Here are the results, worn on the double page by  Chantal; Alice; Camille; Frances and Claudia; and Frances; and alongside me by Kavita and Lucy. East London Street Style - Rosie

Meet Rosie - Hackney girl, writer, and wearer of excellent layering.  Her coat and velvet dress, worn over a vintage lace top, hint at some sort of victorian/goth melting pot of inspiration, all topped off with a bargain Berlin beanie and natty accessories (I'm bringing back 'natty' by the way, get on board).  What I love about this girl's style is that it's very natural, very un-try hard, she just goes about looking frickin' cool in her quiet little way.  Find Rosie at her blog or on Twitter or just look out for her hanging out round E5, no doubt in some excellent coat.

It's that time again...

That's right, fashion month is upon us.  And it looks like the snow is blowing in from New York, along with all the editors, models and streetstyle stars.  Speaking of which, you all know Rosalind  by now, right?  Seeing her (and her outfits) is just one of the many highlights of London Fashion Week for me.  See you all on the cobbles (wear your spindly heels at your peril....)

Yard Style

Milkshake brings all the boys to the yard.  Except in this case it's not milkshake, it's bargains, and it's not boys, it's girls.  The yard in question was that of uber-blogger, and our gracious host for the day, Susie Bubble, who was joined by a dozen of your other favourite bloggers to host the hopefully now annual Bloggers' Yard Sale.  I was stall-sharing with the lovely Kristabel and was pleased to see lots of happy shoppers go home with my wares, although I'm still crying (sob) for some of the things I decided to sell on a whim...Oh Rockabilly Checked Dress, wherefor art thou?  In all the excitement I forgot to take a snap of Susie - duh - or the Balenciaga (wtf!) and Christopher Kane (double wtf!) delights she was selling, but I hope you enjoy these other stylish lovelies, including - oh yeah - the in-house ukelele lady.  That's how we roll, yard style.

East London street style - Be happy

Style crush alert!  This is Frances, of Happy Because.  She always looks amazing.  Not in a "I'm going to Brick Lane and there might be streetstyle photographers" type way, but in a "I just rolled out of bed (ill) and chucked this on but just happen to have a damn frickin' good sense of style" type way.  She always looks cool but never try-hard - the jersey flares, Cons and sleeveless jacket here being a case in point - and she's also a fan of a great hat and/or neck detail.  Maybe that's why she's so happy.

Now also seems an opportune moment to thank Company Magazine for a highly enjoyable and successful Style Blogger Awards ceremony this week.  I was so happy to be nominated but not at all shocked to be beaten in the streetstyle category by the man himself - Facehunter.  Congratulations to all the winners, oh and you can see who wore what (cos clearly that's what you're wondering) here.  Also this week, the very eagle-eyed among you may have spotted this photo I took of Fumie flash up on Friday's edition of The Culture Show on BBC2, featuring Styleeast's good friend David of the Nyanzi Report talking about the streetstyle phenomenon.   And that concludes this week's edition of Styleeast News, thanks for tuning in! 

London Fashion Week street style - Stella does neon

Fair to say that Stella will be all over the internet before you can say "paparazzi", so I thought I'd get in there first to show you her amazing Jonathan Saunders neon.  A rare flash of colour on a dull and rainy day.  Fingers crossed for sunshine tomorrow.  See you there...

NYFR

That's New Year Fashion Resolutions dontcha know.  If you don't want to worry about your post-Christmas waistline/credit card bill/alcoholism, put your efforts into your wardrobe instead.  Here's just a few mottos I'll be adopting for 2012:

1.Try something different.  I might finally get round to dyeing my hair red.  Though probably not this short.  I'd also quite like this coat.

2. Get brave with colour.  Wear a bright green feathered mermaid skirt in the daytime (especially if you're the lovely Rosalind).  Oh, and don't forget to smile.

3. Consider yourself a bit clever with pattern clashing.  And if that involves also wearing flared trousers, so much the better.

4. Accessorise like there's no tomorrow.  Wear feathers if you like, as Stella does (of course it helps if you also have a little Christopher Kane going on)

5.  Layer like a pro.  The pro being Nadia, not me, I'm utterly crap at it. On me, this cardi looks like something I pulled out of the cat's basket. On her, layering perfection.

London Fashion Week Street Style - What Karina Wore

I've photographed Karina three seasons in a row at London Fashion Week and she is without a doubt one of the most stylish and electic ladies on the courtyard. Switching effortlessly from old school glamour to rockabilly, via the hot trends (midi skirts, two tone brogues..), Karina always stands out, and this season (from which the first 3 shots are taken) was no exception...

LFW Street Style - French Kiss

Recognise anyone? No, me neither.  When I first stopped Hannah, from French Kiss Vintage, who I shot before (in this post) at Judy's Affordable Vintage Fair back in June I had no idea it was the same girl.  It's interesting considering that a few posts down I was going on about innate style, when Hannah is living proof that, when it comes to fashion sense, there really are no rules!  I can't choose my favourite from her two looks but what I do know is that she was rocking the courtyard at London Fashion Week in this get-up, check out the feather eyelashes in particular...

Btw, 4 posts in 4 days.... certain people should never again call me a lazy blogger!

LFW Street Style - Day 4: Montage

My final day at Somerset House this season and it didn't disappoint.  Kudos to the hardcore LWF-ers who have 2 days left, I'm bloomin' knackered.
