When I was young(er than I am now, ahem), I could not possibly claim to have good style. You would have found me as a teenager most likely in a baggy jumper and some bad denim from the Jean Scene. I most certainly would not have had the confidence to rock a half-shaved head and some badass colour blocking like this young lady (of course I'm only assuming she's a youngster, she might just be clean-living and heavy on the Oil of Olay...). It's a strong look and one she is 100% pulling off, she stood out a mile from all the other stylish people on Brick Lane for her don't-give-a-crap look and attitude. It was one of my top shots from the weekend I went style spotting with Kate, while she did her 'A Day in the Life' feature about Styleeast, which, incidentally, you can read about Here. Now I come to think of it, I really should thank Kate for suggesting my messy, frizzy barnet was in fact 'Alexa hair'. Bless her...
well spotted. i love this young lady's style and attitude.
ReplyDeletep.s. i did not ask her where she got her outfit from...sorry...!
Awww I want those desert shoes, perfect shade of blue.

i have to admit, that is a well good shirt. i need to up my trousers "game" i think, i want some interesting coloured ones but i hate all the skinny fittings ones on the highstreet as the really look naff on me and i hate low fitting trousers. i want some proper waist action, so tomorrow i'm off to scotland. apparently there's tones of vintage shops there so i'm on the hunt for trousers, patterned shirts and something to wear for my graduation.
ReplyDeleteInteresting combo here but it actually works really well. Those red trousers are so brilliantly vivid.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE how you started your posts!!! I'm turning 40 this year but feel like a little kid sometimes :)

Well spotted, Miss East! ; )
ReplyDeleteLove her use of colour - I can't/won't wear red but am in awe of anyone who can/does - and pull it off with such attitude.
I was thinking about the half shaven look (remember Alice Dellal at the ckone/mtv party?) - that is such a commitment to a trend. Change your mind and you've got to wait about 4, 5 years for the other side to grow out.
Great shot. xox
That shirt is amazing. It's funny how you can pull literally anything off as long as you've got the confidence to do so. This lady has it in heaps. x
ReplyDeleteoh man, i can totally sympathise, when i was younger i was like one of the girls you see in makeover movies, except i was permanently in pre-makeover mode! had railtrack braces and thick reading glasses, the whole look!
ReplyDeleteof course i always secretly wanted to look like this girl, with the don't give a crap attitude as you described, sigh...
Love the mix - super photo! j'aime beaucoup - Ariane
ReplyDeleteAhh, the beauty of being young... experimentation and fun. Love it!
ReplyDeleteShe certainly has a delightfully sharp edge. I love the print on her shirt.
ReplyDeleteAh yes, definitely a great capturing of stylish 'attitude' here. And as for your description of you having a 'messy, frizzy, barnet" - I DON'T think so! I've never seen such glossy shine in a head of hair before!!
ReplyDeleteshe looks amaing, and no dobt would make alice dellal proud. she must have so muny sick dressed friends.
