You'd think, in the wilds of Scotland, that fashion would be the last thing on my mind. There's not a lot in the way of style round here (unless you're into, er, cow print, or sheep wool, or, well, fields), but I've still got a whole load of photos I want to show you from my recent adventures. I'll start with this, from my day out to Carnaby Street, away from the east London badlands. A very stylish pair, definitely with a similar sensibility, but in overall very different looks. People say that friends tend to dress the same and morph into one another style-wise, but I think these two demonstrate that you can have some similar tastes (note the skinnies) but still have your own thing going on - whether that be a nod to the mod in that scarf and hat or a grungey denim and DM combo.
Do you have a similar look to your friends? And which of these is your preferred style? (David and Mat, I'm looking to you two for answers here..)
Any body who can pull off a beret is a winner in my eyes. I do think to an extent you merge into your friends, but only within the things you already share in common. x
ReplyDeleteyeah i reckon friends mirror but once you get a bit older the aim is that you can relax into your style and then you wear the clothes not the clothes wear you, if that makes sense. saying that, my best mate doesn't dress anything like me, he's a weird mix of 90s band t shirts(esp marylin manson and suede) and 60s blazers and trousers. it sounds like i dress a bit like one of your mates, from the way you have said in the past.
ReplyDeletei prefer the fella on the left cos he's sort of given a beatnik vibe too which you hardly ever see, therefore that would make me look. he holds himself quite well too, sort of like how mick jagger used to, you know?
i'm off to scotland soon too actually. snap on the pumas then, they're very comfy. yeah vans, standard, my blue ones are so worn they're totally faded now, i like. yeah me too but we can have a mini revival can't we. essay over
I dress totally different to my friends - preppy is my weapon of choice.
ReplyDeleteI prefer the look on the left.
Lovely pic! :)
ReplyDeleteNice blog!

My closest friends and I have quite similar style in that we like the same base pieces, but we all combine them differently and dress these same or similar basics up in different ways.
ReplyDeleteThis is so funny... I definitely think I tend to dress similar to my friends. Or, at least I get ideas from them that I incorporate into how I dress. More then friends though... strangely, me and my husband dress so similarly! Well, we have similar pieces... there's got to be at least 10-15 things we have exactly the same (but in different sizes). Converse, Toms, hoodies, t-shirts from AA... once you find the 'perfect hoodie' it's impossible to not have the people around you want one too, right? xx
ReplyDelete@Jen you're totally right about the hoodies, for some reason i'm always jealous of other people's, they always seem cosier than mine! Boys get all the best ones I think, which is why it's a good idea to keep a man around ;)
ReplyDeletex
aren't hoodies all the same? well unisex anways
ReplyDeleteThere's something rather parisian looking about the guy on the left (and I don't think it's only down to the beret). I dress completely differently to most of my friends at the moment.
ReplyDeleteWhat a cool pair! The left one speaks more to me - the look is a bit more strict and disciplined. I think my friends think I'm a weird OTT dresser... xo
ReplyDeletecannot get over how skinny these boys' legs are! eep! xx
ReplyDeleteLove both pairs of shoes! x hivenn
ReplyDeleteThat beret is brilliant! x
